“Paysannes” is a series of portraits taken with large format camera of post-war farmers' wives, heirs and witnesses to a bygone era in which they still live. An encounter with these women who are true forces of nature, in their own homes, in their own intimacy.
By entering their homes today, the large format camera captures a yesterday’s reality and shines a spotlight on these women who have never really been seen, looked at or thanked. “Farmers' wives” above all, their faces, hands and bodies bear the traces of the passage from one century to another, of a changing patriarchal system and of a profession whose rules have been redefined.
This is a generation of women who farmed, herded, raised children and kept house, without counting the hours or complaining. The last heirs to a way of life they didn't really choose, they were always in the shadow of an authoritative male figure.

“My work, which focuses on documentary photography, is rooted in a desire to recount the story of others in terms of who they are and what they do, to get to know them and make them the focus of my work. Meeting them in a spirit of openness and dialogue to better understand their lives, their situations, their choices...
Social photography gives me access to very different worlds, and enables me to question social practices in an attempt to use images to shed light on the shadowy areas of our society, without preconceived ideas, but by projecting my own reading grid onto the facts.
This photographic approach is part of a process of mutual taming, in which pressing the shutter release is not an isolated act, but the re-construction of this relationship with the other.
